Duration: 3 minutes and 28 seconds
“This is a love song, using the phrase ‘if you promise you love me’ to express my love for a non-existent object.”

“The images recorded by objective media, in my view, are more like a medium than the ‘reality’ itself, connecting reality and memory, perception and emotion. They are a flattened monument.”

Real Scene Shooting. 2017, mixed media, variable dimensions.

“This is the original film, unmodified, unedited, and uncolored. However, the source of the image has been fabricated, and the process of falsification has been fabricated, so the original film has also become unreliable. The image has already been separated from the object, and constantly erodes the so-called ‘reality’.”

Keep up with the rhythm》

Since the beginning of the civilized city creation activities in my hometown in the early 2000s, this series of works is inspired by the phenomena or forms observed during the city creation activities on the streets. I transformed these unconscious landscape choices into the form of sculpture. Each independent sculpture represents different landscapes and meanings.

Production methods:

Flip the discarded floor tiles and use plaster to copy the patterns on the back.
Grind a broken foam brick until it has no edges.
Write the words from the software on a piece of wood, and then cover it with acrylic.
Pour cement into a box and then smash it. Put the pieces back in the box and repeat the process five times.
Enter the text seen on the street about city creation on an LED screen, repeat the keywords, and mix in the lyrics of popular music. Spray silver paint on iron pipes in the range of ordinary people’s vision.
Reproduce the landscape at the entrance of the Anshan City Park and add a humidifier for beautification.
Bend and reduce the size of steel bars, and connect them with cement molded into the shape of a shopping bag.
Apply cement on an abandoned express delivery wooden frame, and let the cement fall off over time.

The mirror reflects one’s own room, and the space solidifies together with time. It’s like an extra part of the universe, and it itself has gained the freedom of space and time.

“When I was a child, a typhoon blew down our neighbor’s ladder, which smashed the glass on our patio. I still remember the howling wind and rain that blew into the house at that time. This is why I decided to create art in this place full of energy that goes up and down.”
